14.1 Requirements & Capacity Estimation

Requirements

• Ingest up to 1,000 vital readings/sec per crew member.
• Zero-latency (<10ms) local delivery aboard spacecraft LAN.
• Emulate up to 24 minutes of one-way transmission latency for Earth relay.

Capacity Estimation

• 6 astronauts on a Mars expedition generating 6,000 readings/sec.
• Storage growth: ~2.5GB compressed time-series data per month.
